Canadian four-star forward Justin Jackson commits to Maryland

Canadian four-star forward Justin Jackson has committed to Maryland, a source tells TSR.

Jackson, a Class of 2016 recruit, is a 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward with a 7-foot-3 wingspan.

Rivals national analyst Eric Bossi likes the toughness, length and versatility Jackson will bring to Maryland.

"Justin Jackson is a pretty big time late addition to Maryland's 2016 class," said Bossi. "He's a rugged, tough and long armed forward who will allow for versatile lineups.

"Jackson can play out on the wing if Mark Turgeon wants to play a big lineup. Where I really like him is as a mismatch four man. He can take bigs out on the floor and beat them off the dribble and make plays for others. Jackson is a good mid range shooter, rebounds very well and already has Big Ten strength."

Originally committed to UNLV, Jackson reopened his recruitment after former head coach Dave Rice was fired.

As TSR was first to report, Jackson visited Maryland the weekend of April 29 along with fellow Canadian four-star Nickeil Alexander-Walker, but left without committing. That visit was followed by trips to Connecticut and Oregon.

Jackson ultimately chose the Terps over the Huskies and Ducks, likely due to immediate playing time available at the forward spots after the departures of Jake Layman, Robert Carter Jr. and Diamond Stone.

With the addition of Jackson, the Terps now have a four-man 2016 recruiting class consisting of all four-star players. Anthony Cowan, Kevin Huerter and Micah Thomas are all ranked inside the Rivals top 100. Jackson was previously ranked inside the top 100 also, but is no longer eligible due to the fact he played his high school basketball in Canada this past season.
