After attending Maryland’s spring game April 16, McDonogh (Md.) three-star offensive tackle Jordan McNair committed to the Terps’ 2017 class, becoming the latest local recruit to hop on board with the “DMV-to-UMD movement.”

Besides Maryland, the 6-foot-4, 276-pound blocker holds offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and others.

McNair has been one of the Terps’ top local targets since the new coaching regime took over in College Park, and he told TSR a week prior to his commitment that on his last trip to campus before the spring game the staff “opened up [his] eyes” to what Maryland has to offer.

In the end, McNair’s close relationship with Terps offensive line coach Dave Borbely as well as enjoyable experiences on his recent trips to campus helped separate Maryland from the pack.

McNair is the No. 8-ranked player in the state of Maryland for the 2017 class and his commitment to the hometown school continues the hot streak that Maryland has been on recently with local recruits.

Maryland’s 2017 class now consists of six players that are all from either Washington, D.C., Maryland or Virginia. McNair technically becomes the third recruit to join the class from the Free State, but Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy defensive lineman Cam Spence and Washington (D.C.) St. John’s quarterback Kasim Hill are both Maryland natives.

McNair’s commitment also continues the pipeline from McDonogh to Maryland. The Terps currently have four former Eagles on the roster--Josh Woods, Roman Braglio, Ellis McKennie and Michael Cornwell--who McNair has kept in touch with throughout his recruiting process.
