According to multiple reports, Maryland head coach DJ Durkin will hire Kentucky special teams coordinator Andy Buh as the Terps' new defensive coordinator.

Buh will replace former Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer, who stepped down from the position last week due to personal reasons.

Buh has history with both Durkin and Shafer, with all three having served under current Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh at Stanford in 2007. Shafer served as defensive coordinator while Buh worked with the linebackers and Durkin worked with defensive ends and special teams.

When Shafer moved on following the 2007 season, Buh spent two years as co-defensive coordinator at Stanford, continuing to work with Durkin.

Buh also served as defensive coordinator at Nevada from 2010 to 2011 and at Cal in 2013 before spending last season as Kentucky's outside linebackers coach.
